WTTG/WDCA – Broadcast Stagehand (Per Diem Part-Time)
FOX 5 DC / FOX 5 Plus is looking for a part-time Stagehand to join our engineering team. FOX 5 DC / FOX 5 Plus is part of Fox Corporation and Fox Television Stations, world leading and valued media brands, airing the most hours of original programming in the DC, Maryland, and Virginia local television market. This role works in conjunction with the engineering management team to oversee behind-the-scenes broadcast production projects and studio set designs.
Responsibilities: Will handle property and scenery used for live television. This includes the maintenance, repair, placement and operation of studio scenes, structures, and lighting. Must be competent in the use of hand tools and power tools. Must be comfortable with computers, email, and training on new systems. Will work in a fast-paced environment. May have to travel between locations and may be required to deliver and pick up materials offsite as needed.
Requirements: HS Diploma (or equivalent) required. 2-4-year college/technical degree preferred. Minimum 3 years recent experience. Must have, or be willing to obtain, a valid driver’s license, be able to drive, maintain a clean MVR and insurance. Must be able to lift and carry up to 70 lbs. This position will require the ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time. Must be able to go up and down stairs, climb ladders, bend, squat/crouch, kneel and twist.
FOX 5 DC / FOX 5 Plus is a 24/7 operation. Candidates must have flexibility in scheduling evenings, early mornings, weekends as well as working all shifts in a 24/7/365 breaking news environment. Must be able to work overtime, holidays, and varied hours. Candidate will also be required to join the I.A.T.S.E Local 22 union. This position will be for no less than two weeks, with no end date determined at this time.
