The California Department of Corrections Rehabilitation (CDCR) Headquarters has implemented a new automated system to streamline the hiring process. The Human Resources Technology System (HRTS) is an intuitive, user-friendly system that provides the applicant access to real-time updates throughout the hiring process.

HRTS will require new candidates to set up an account, which allows them to track their application’s progress. Through their account portal, candidates will also be able to provide any additional information needed in the hiring process, including setting up interviews as needed. Under general direction of the Information Technology Manager I, the Information Technology Specialist II (ITS II) works within the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR), Enterprise Information Services (EIS), Incarcerated Population and Community Applications Support team. The ITS II performs various business analysis and project management tasks related to application development at the most complex level. The ITS II serves in the coordination, management, and monitoring of various tasks involving Division of Rehabilitative Programs (DRP), Office of Correctional Education (OCE), Office of Correctional Security (OCS), Division of Adult Institutions (DAI), Office of Internal Affairs (OIA), Office of Legal Affairs (OLA), Business Services, Contract Services, Facilities Planning and Construction Management, CDCR staff, the incarcerated population, and the community. The ITS II will be the recognized technical expert and specialist on the architecture, planning, development and maintenance of the most complex software systems/projects and acts as lead on projects involving the design and implementation of the most complex enterprise applications, data, and security configurations. The IT Spec II demonstrates a depth of leadership and expertise in software development in Progressive Web Applications using Java Script, Vue.JS, Vuetify, and Feathers, device, database, system and information security engineering and perform a wide variety of tasks requiring innovative problem-solving where guidance is not readily available, and the incumbent is expected to be at subject matter expert level in the functional technology domains. The main EIS location is in a park-like campus setting across from the Folsom Lake auto dealerships in Rancho Cordova, close to US Highway 50 and the Hazel light rail station. We are minutes from historic Sutter Street, the Folsom Premium Outlets, and many dining establishments.
