About us:

Ascidian is redefining the treatment of disease by  rewriting RNA .

Ascidian Therapeutics was founded to rewrite RNA by editing and replacing human exons. We were inspired by ocean creatures, called Ascidians, who are primordial ancestors of vertebrates. To grow from larvae to adults, ascidians re-engineer their transcriptome through RNA editing via trans-splicing and alternative splicing.

In our Brighton/Boston labs, RNA biology meets today’s cutting-edge genomics, computational biology, and deep-sequencing technologies to create a new class of medicines that address the underlying causes of disease. Summary:

We’re looking for an individual with a solid background in molecular biology and analytical science. The candidate will work as a part of a collaborative team to generate analytical data for R&D and drug development. The candidate must be detail oriented, have excellent record keeping and communication skills, and be willing to work in a dynamic entrepreneurial environment with a deep interest in bringing a new type of gene therapy to patients.

Responsibilities include:

• Become a critical part of our gene therapy analytical workflow
• Work closely with other scientists to advance drug discovery and clinical development
• Precise record keeping including electronic lab notebook writing
• Both follow and develop analytical assays including those suitable to monitor the manufacture and release of viral vectors and other products
• Assist in the characterization of processing steps for yield, product integrity and
  clearance of impurities
• Support stability programs
• Author standard operating procedures, development reports and regulatory documentation
• Assist in technology transfer to CDMO and CROs
• Work with external service providers, including supporting the communication.

Skills, qualifications, and experience:

• BS or MS in Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or a related discipline with 2+ years laboratory research experience
• Strong laboratory skills and a high degree of attention to detail with the experience in following molecular biology and analytical techniques:
  • PCR, gel electrophoresis, gel imaging, SDS-PAGE
  • Mammalian cell culture, transfection, transduction (AAV)
  • Nucleic acid preparation (DNA, RNA), ddPCR, qPCR and data analysis
• Passion for working at the bench to advance programs
• Self-motivation and adaptability to evolving project priorities and responsibilities
• Team-oriented, effective communication skills with a strong work ethic
• QC analytics (especially AAV), highly desired

Additional skills/experience beneficial, but not required:

• Virus production (especially AAV)
• Other analytical techniques such as ELISA, HPLC, ELISPOT assay
